How Can We Help?
Editing Variants
Every experiment in Bluvia A/B Testing compares an original version (the Control) against one or more modified versions (the Variants).
Variants allow you to test different ideas while keeping the original content intact. By comparing how visitors interact with each version, Bluvia A/B Testing helps you identify which changes produce the best results.
The changes you can make depend on the type of experiment you’re creating.
What is a Control?
The Control is the original version of your content.
It represents what visitors currently see on your website and serves as the baseline for measuring performance.
The Control cannot be edited directly within an experiment. Instead, you’ll create one or more variants that contain the changes you want to compare.
What is a Variant?
A Variant is a modified version of your original content.
Each variant represents a different idea or hypothesis you’d like to test.
For example, you might create a variant that:
- Changes a headline.
- Updates button text.
- Uses a different hero image.
- Reorders page sections.
- Adjusts colors or styling.
- Adds additional content.
Visitors are randomly shown either the Control or one of the Variants during the experiment.
Creating a Variant
When creating a new experiment, Bluvia A/B Testing automatically creates the Control.
To add another version:
- Click Add Variant.
- Give the variant a descriptive name.
- Open the variant in the appropriate editor.
- Make the changes you’d like to test.
- Save your changes.
The editing experience depends on the type of experiment you’re running.
For example:
- Page Tests open in the page’s native editor.
- Post Tests open in the post editor.
- Menu Tests open the menu editor.
Edit One Meaningful Change
While it’s possible to change many things within a variant, we recommend focusing on one primary idea whenever possible.
For example:
Good experiment:
- Change the homepage headline.
Less effective experiment:
- Change the headline, hero image, layout, CTA, colors, and pricing section all at once.
Making too many changes makes it difficult to understand which change influenced the results.
Multiple Variants
Bluvia A/B Testing supports creating multiple variants within a single experiment.
This allows you to compare several ideas against the original Control.
For example:
- Control
- Variant 1 ā Blue CTA button
- Variant 2 ā Green CTA button
- Variant 3 ā Different button text
Keep in mind that additional variants divide your available traffic across more versions, so experiments may take longer to produce meaningful results.
Editing Existing Variants
You can edit a variant before launching an experiment.
Simply open the variant and make the necessary changes.
Once an experiment is actively running, we recommend avoiding major edits, as changing a live experiment can affect the reliability of your results.
If significant changes are needed, consider creating a new experiment instead.
Preview Your Variants
Before launching your experiment, preview each variant to ensure everything appears as expected.
Review:
- Content
- Images
- Buttons
- Links
- Layout
- Mobile responsiveness
A quick review before launch can help prevent unexpected issues for visitors.
Best Practices
To create more meaningful experiments:
- Test one primary idea at a time.
- Give each variant a descriptive name.
- Keep unrelated content the same between variants.
- Preview every variation before launching.
- Avoid editing variants after an experiment has started.
Well-designed variants make it easier to understand why one version outperforms another.
